Job Description

We are looking to for a dedicated and talented individual who loves building websites from creative frontend interfaces to WordPress (and Expression Engine) themeing and integration. This position is an opportunity to create websites and web applications that out-due other agencies and, better yet, our client’s competitors.

Location: Yaletown, Vancouver, Canada


Reports To: Account Manager


Responsibilities

  • Start each day, week and project with a creative spirit and a solution-oriented perspective for creating amazing outcomes for clients and colleagues.
  • Program interface-based websites with a flair for creating highly usable interfaces grounded in code that adheres to excellent web standards.
  • Program and integrate backend applications ranging from content management to ecommerce.
  • Steward the discovery and adoption of open source solutions with a mind set for mashing up technology to create surprising unique solutions.
  • Champion the technical planning process from functional requirement development through to test planning and infrastructure analysis.
  • Slice Photoshop files into Valid HTML/CSS.
  • Integrate the HTML/CSS layouts as themes into WordPress (ExpressionEngine or Drupal also strongly preferred ).
  • Expert at hand coding to strict web standards and cross browser / platform compliancy.
  • Strong knowledge of Javascript frameworks such as Mootools and jQuery.
  • Some designs skills an asset.
  • Website content population and content styling skills required.
  • A passion for web technologies and willingness to always innovate.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience in PHP 4/5 programming.
  • 3-5 years experience in XHTML/CSS and Javascript.
  • 1-2 years relational database experience (MySQL).
  • Actionscript and Photoshop experience is an asset.
  • Experience in architecting technical solutions.
  • Experience in planning and integrating open source applications/frameworks such as WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Expression Engine, Magento, ZenCart, SugarCRM, Vanilla Forums, subversion, Apache/Linux, CodeIgniter.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related fields from an accredited university.
  • Internet/interactive experience with knowledge of web technologies, search engines, online marketing trends and tools, and online consumer behavior.
  • Must be results driven, detail oriented, consistently meet deadlines and produce high quality work.

Compensation

The salary offered for this position is highly competitive base salary. In addition to standard compensation we offer medical and dental benefits, as well as a number of "perks". Success and revenue growth will affect your compensation and bonuses as your career develops at Veratta.
